Situated on a corner lot in Newmarket, this single-family residence was shaped around mature trees and a grade transition of nearly one storey between the front and rear of the property. These conditions created the very base of connection between the design and its surroundings.

To preserve the existing site conditions, the massing and spatial organization emerge through careful negotiation with the existing trees. Interior spaces were arranged to frame views, shape circulation, deliver the program, and establish a layered relationship between the building and site.

The design explored how architecture can contribute to a sustainable and site responsive precedent grounded in clarity, adaptability, and longevity.
